Project HORIZON

European industry is a key driver of today's economic and social change. For industrial ecosystems to remain engines of prosperity, they will need not only to develop but also to deploy technologies and transform their goods and services towards a new reality, ensuring that industry can become an accelerator and enabler of the green and digital transition. Its success will depend heavily on increased autonomy in key strategic value chains, with secure supply of raw materials, as well as human-centred and ethical development of digital and industrial technologies through two-way engagement in technology development, empowering end-users and workers, and promoting social innovation. The PROSPECTS 5.0 project will analyse how these principles - human-centredness, sustainability and resilience - are being adopted by start-ups, SMEs, mid-cap companies and large industrial groups in different industry sectors to facilitate their transition to Industry 5.0.

The project activities are based on real-life examples, namely 14 use cases from different EU and Horizon Europe associated countries (Norway and Turkey) and 6 different industrial sectors: manufacturing, IT services, education, energy, aerospace and automotive. The selected industrial sectors are important drivers for the implementation of Industry 5.0 and are crucial for the European economy. The results of PROSPECTS 5.0 are expected to foster cooperation between the different actors involved in the transition to Industry 5.0, including businesses, research centres, universities and public authorities. The outcome will be an analysis of pilot use cases that will measure the impact of Industry 5.0 principles on various parameters in selected industries and provide recommendations for the emerging policy framework and further improve skills, understanding and acceptance by workers and end-users.
