about us
The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management is part of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
Industrial engineering is a relatively young multidisciplinary field that combines technical knowledge with knowledge of business management. A graduate of industrial engineering acquires competences for effective management and coordination of production systems, management of production departments, team management, designing modern production in the spirit of Industry 4.0 or solving projects aimed at improving the performance of processes in the company. Simply put, the main tasks of any industrial engineer are to optimise, rationalise and improve production or non-production processes.
Therefore, during your studies, you will not only gain key knowledge of modern production management concepts, but you will also learn to understand the interdependence and nature of processes implemented in industrial enterprises throughout the product life cycle.
We use state-of-the-art technical equipment in our teaching. Our students have at their disposal a Fischertechnik kit on which they learn to build and program any model, for example an automated warehouse, a product sorter or a robotic arm. The department also has two unique laboratories - a virtual reality lab and an Industry 4.0 lab, where you can learn, for example, how a collaborative robot or an automated guided vehicle (AGV) works.
During your studies, you can look forward to courses that focus not only on industrial engineering, such as logistics, ergonomics, simulation of production systems, production management or work rationalisation. Our graduates must also have an active knowledge of IT support for business processes or business economics and management. Real-life projects are also an integral part of the course.
